With the long holiday weekend, we were able to check off a few more to-dos on the never ending house project list.
This unfortunately included removing the corner of our front hedge that died and looked like it was taking over the rest of the shrub.

Here is a quick update of what we’ve been up to lately!
1. New faucets. Wow, who knew a small upgrade in the bathrooms could make me so happy. Turning on the water every morning puts a brighter smile on my face. I found the guest bath faucet on a clearance endcap at Home Depot (pfister for $70). Matt installed it in no time, so off I went to hunt for one for our master bathroom since it was a Matt approved project :). After a fun weekend in Lacrosse that included a trip to the farmers market and Matt’s grandparents farm, I’m stuck on the idea that Matt and I need a garden in our backyard, stat!
I found a perfect how-to that Matt so excitedly said he’d love to build over the Memorial Day weekend! Thanks Matt! I promise I’ll help! Continue reading “Garden Inspiration and a Trip to the Frank Farm”
We are getting bids right now for 2 projects. First, to update the entryway with new tile and new stair rail. I want to add a tile (travertine maybe?) that ties in the grey walls and the oak trim. I also want to get a more modern stair rail that incorporates white (for the soon to be built-ins and dream kitchen) while still maintaining some oak. I loved the boxy newels like the picture shown below.
And our second project is to update our built-ins in the family room and living room. For the family room, we want to get rid of the tube TV unit and make it flat against the wall like the left side. For the living room, there is zero need for a computer desk these days. So I want to reconstruct this whole unit and add glass shelves to make it feel a little more open. We are asking to have both painted white with gloss enamel finish.
Below is what I have been showing the two contractors that are currently in a bidding war for this project 🙂
The first of May spurted our introductory season to lawn care!
Our lawn was covered with those beautiful, yet unwanted, dandelions. But luckily, none of those large and prickly weeds came back from last years. Matt’s weed-be-gone treatment did the trick! Continue reading “Welcoming May and our First Attempts at Lawn Care”
