After all our furniture arrived, I was excited to finally put up the wall art. Of course this was going to include my DIY abstract painting, but I needed more to balance out the space above the couch. So, I bought two gold frames at Target and added in some pretty Instagram photos of important places to Matt and I. I’m still looking for real art prints on Minted.com and Society6.com , but haven’t found anything I love yet. So, instapics for now! I also found these gold arrows from Target and thought they fit the theme, too. Here’s how it all looked once Matt measured it all out and hung all 5 items: Continue reading “Living Room Wall Art and Hello Snow”
Because our living room has no overhead lighting, and I no way am going to spend $4k to add it, I had to get creative in ways to add light so we can enjoy this room at night and throughout the winter. Continue reading “DIY Lighted Ladder and Other Sources of Illumination”
I’m keeping this nice and short, but I wanted to jump in and share pictures of our living room chairs that arrived last week. Izzy is already a huge fan of these beauts!
A couple of weeks ago, our new living room couch arrived and it is better than expected. Once we finally unwrapped it from the packaging, Matt and I set it in its new spot and sat back and looked at it. It was not love and first site. I think we both knew we liked it, but we did admit that it just didn’t feel right. It took a solid 5-10min for us to notice that we didnt add on the feet of the couch, which is definitely needed to make it feel finished.
It was a fun week with a new delivery almost every day! Last week, our chairs, bench, rug and table arrived. The table was the last to arrive and after seeing just the chairs and bench in the space, I was getting worried I was a bit aggressive with the amount of furniture we can fit in this space. However, once we got the table, the room magically looked bigger. It’s crazy how sometimes MORE furniture seems to enlarge a room.
It’s been two years with our living room empty, and I’m finally confident enough with my plan for this space to start getting serious about some purchases.
Here is how it currently looks: Continue reading “Living Room Inspiration”
After 10 days of living without any furniture on our main floor and a few sleep overs at my parents house, our main floor new hardwood flooring is complete! We went with Early American and I am happy with that decision. While tempting to go with a darker stain, I think this stain fits well with the style of our house and looks like a fancied up version of what could be the original flooring. UB hardwoods was A+ and I’d recommend them in a heartbeat for anyone else needing floors refinished or installed.
